The body, the key to being you

Here is the post written last night and this morning I discovered the title of this video on Fabrice Midal's Youtube channel during the interview with Dr Jean-Marc Benhaiem :

"The body, the forgotten key to therapy

For many years now, I've been discovering that the body is the key to creating our life, and making the necessary changes, in line with our brain!

There's not us, our body and then the rest of the world. We incorporate everything here.

Our body, in a way, is not separate from the rest of our life. We try to take our bodies with us, rather than realizing that we and our bodies are a creation and incorporation of this reality.

We are constantly told in churches, cults and religions that the soul is superior to the body - that the soul is the only thing of value.

And as Dr. Jean-Marc Benhaiem points out, the body has always been ignored in therapy. And yet the body is always in the present moment. Unlike our brain, which broods, desperately seeking to understand and control, and unable to do so, plunges back into the past, past emotions, past situations and judgments.

This way of thinking creates a separation between us and our bodies. Our body is not inferior to us. Our body is part of us. It has amazing capacities. It can do remarkable things.

What if you included the magic of your body - and the magic of everything - in your life?

What if you were to give a little gratitude every morning to the body that transports you, that carries you through this life at every moment?

You can function from a totally different place when you have gratitude for your body.

Are you grateful to your body? Or do you treat it with contempt? Do you communicate with your body about what it wants? Or do you say, "I want to go here, I want to go there, I want to eat this, I want to drink that, I want to do this competition?"

When you do this, you lack consideration for your body.

You challenge your body and fight against it instead of with it. And when you're in distrust and resistance of your body, you can't have gratitude for it - and you can't communicate with it.

If you treated your pet this way, would it stay with you?

If you treated your lover like that, would he stay with you or leave?

Your lover would run off!

How about collaborating with this body - after all, it's the only one we're going to get?

What would it be like to collaborate with this body at every moment?
